Domain, Hosting and Email Costs in Singapore
Short answer: A .sg or .com.sg domain costs S$30 to register and S$45 a year to renew, before GST. Business hosting runs from S$0 on a cloud free tier to about S$240 a year on Singapore shared hosting. Email on Google Workspace Business Starter is S$9.40 per user per month, so a 3-person company pays roughly S$400 to S$700 a year for all three.
Prices below come from published registrar, hosting and platform pages, checked 17 October 2026. All exclude 9% GST unless stated.
What is the difference between a domain and hosting?
A domain is the name people type. Hosting is the computer that serves the pages. Email is a third service that uses the domain but does not need to sit on the hosting.
The three are billed separately and can come from three different companies. Many Singapore hosting packages bundle them into one invoice, which is convenient until you want to move one of the three.
- Domain: registered through an SGNIC-accredited registrar for .sg names, or any ICANN registrar for .com. Renewed yearly.
- Hosting: shared hosting, a managed platform or a cloud account. Billed monthly or yearly.
- Email: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or the mailboxes bundled with shared hosting. Billed per user.
Set up as three separate accounts, you can change your web designer without touching email, and change email without touching the website.
What does a .sg or .com.sg domain cost?
.sg and .com.sg names are run by the Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC) and sold through accredited registrars. SGNIC revised wholesale pricing from 1 July 2026, which registrars passed on in their own announcements.
| Domain | New registration | Renewal per year | Source, checked 17 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| .sg | S$30 | S$45 | Qoxy price list, before GST |
| .com.sg | S$30 | S$45 | Qoxy price list, before GST |
| .sg or .com.sg | S$27.99 first year, 2-year minimum | Listed separately | Exabytes domains page, subject to GST |
| .com | S$16.24 first year | S$20.41 | Exabytes domains page, subject to GST |
Three points matter more than the headline price:
- Promotions apply to the first year. SGNIC's January 2026 promotion priced new .sg names at S$18 or lower for the first year only. Budget on the renewal price.
- Some registrars require a 2-year first term, so the first invoice is about S$56 to S$93, not S$30.
- SGNIC limits renewal to 3 years ahead. You cannot lock in a 10-year price.
A .com.sg name needs a Singapore-registered business as the registrant. A .sg name is open to local and international registrants.
How much is hosting for a business website?
Hosting cost depends on what the site is built from. A WordPress site needs a server running PHP and a database. A static or Next.js site is a set of prebuilt files that a content delivery network can serve, which is cheaper and often free at business-site traffic levels.
| Option | Published price | What it suits | Source, checked 17 Oct 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore shared hosting, entry plan | S$16.99 to S$19.99 a month at introductory rates, then higher on renewal | WordPress or PHP sites | Exabytes web hosting |
| Vercel Hobby | US$0, personal and non-commercial use only | Not for a business site | Vercel pricing |
| Vercel Pro | US$20 a month per seat, includes 1 TB transfer | Business Next.js sites | Vercel pricing |
| Google Cloud Run | Free tier of 2 million requests a month, then US$0.40 per million | Business Next.js sites with a Google Cloud account | Cloud Run pricing |
Watch for:
- Introductory versus renewal price. Shared hosting pages show the first-term rate in large type and the renewal rate in small type. Exabytes lists S$16.99 a month as an introductory rate against a standard rate of S$66.99 for the same plan.
- Traffic limits. Shared plans meter storage and sometimes visits. Cloud platforms meter bandwidth and compute, which a 10-page business site rarely exceeds.
- Server location. Hosting in Singapore or on a global content delivery network keeps page load fast for local visitors. Hosting on a single server in the United States adds 150 to 250 milliseconds per request for a Singapore visitor.
For most 5 to 20 page business sites, hosting on a cloud platform costs S$0 to S$30 a month. Shared hosting is cheaper only when the site needs PHP and a database.
Should email be on the same provider as the website?
No. Keep email on a dedicated mail service, on its own account, in the company's name.
The reasons are operational:
- Deliverability. Dedicated mail services publish and maintain SPF, DKIM and DMARC settings. Shared hosting mail servers share a sending reputation with every other customer on the box.
- Independence. If you change hosting or your website goes down, mail keeps working.
- Storage and backup. Business mail plans include 30 GB to 5 TB per user and admin controls. Hosting mailboxes are often capped at 1 to 5 GB.
Google Workspace prices in Singapore, checked 17 October 2026, excluding tax:
| Plan | Price per user per month | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Business Starter | S$9.40 | 30 GB pooled |
| Business Standard | S$18.80 | 2 TB per user |
| Business Plus | S$29.40 | 5 TB per user |
Google shows a 30% discount for new customers on the first 20 users for 12 months until 31 January 2027, and a 16% saving on annual commitment. Microsoft 365 Business plans sit in the same price range.
For a 3-person company, Business Starter is S$338 a year at list price. That is more than the domain and hosting combined, and it is the item owners most often try to save on by using hosting mailboxes. The saving is small and the deliverability cost is real.
Who should own the domain account?
The business should be the registrant of record, under an email address the company controls, not a staff member's personal address and not the agency's.
Checks to run today:
- Log in to the registrar yourself. If you cannot, you do not control the domain.
- Confirm the registrant name and email. The registrant can transfer, renew or let the domain lapse.
- Turn on auto-renew with a company card, and set a calendar reminder 60 days before expiry anyway.
- Add the agency or developer as a technical contact or a delegated user, not as the owner.
- Keep DNS at the registrar or at Cloudflare, so changing hosting is a record edit rather than a domain transfer.
The same applies to the hosting account and the email admin account. A site built on a client's own accounts can be handed to a new developer in an afternoon. A site built on an agency's accounts takes a transfer request, a cooling period and sometimes a fee. The website audit checklist covers what to confirm before the build starts.
Yearly total for a small business website
An estimate for a 3-person Singapore company with a 10-page site, at list prices, before GST:
| Item | Yearly cost | Note |
|---|---|---|
| .com.sg domain | S$45 | Renewal rate |
| Hosting | S$0 to S$312 | Cloud free tier, or US$20 a month on Vercel Pro at about S$1.30 per US dollar |
| Email, 3 users | S$338 | Google Workspace Business Starter at S$9.40 |
| Total | S$383 to S$695 | Excludes any maintenance retainer |
A WordPress site adds a maintenance line on top, which Singapore agencies publish at S$150 to S$450 a month. The website maintenance cost guide sets out what that fee covers and when it is not needed.
What cense does
cense builds Next.js sites hosted on Vercel or Google Cloud, with the domain, hosting and data in the client's name and S$0 monthly maintenance. Hosting, domain and email are set up as three separate accounts the client owns. See website infrastructure for the setup.
