SEO Pricing in Singapore: Retainers, One-Off Fixes, What You Get

Updated 18 October 2026

Short answer: published SEO retainers in Singapore range from S$200 a month for a solo freelancer to S$25,000 and above for enterprise programmes, with most SME quotes between S$400 and S$3,000 a month. One-off audits start at about S$3,000. The fee only buys something if the quote lists pages, fixes and content by name. For a site under 20 pages, a fixed-price rebuild with the SEO work built in usually costs less than 6 months of retainer.

All ranges below are from the providers' own published guides, with the date each was published or last edited. Checked 18 October 2026.

What are the published retainer ranges?

Four Singapore providers publish their view of the market. Their figures do not agree, which is itself the first finding.

Provider and pagePublished or editedMonthly range stated

Kolonell11 October 2026Day rate S$900 to S$1,400; no retainer range stated

Three things stand out:

  • The floor is low because a freelancer with limited tools can run a small campaign for S$200 to S$400 a month. The 2025 OOm guide says this plainly.
  • The 2026 freelanceseo.sg guide starts its retainer tiers at S$1,500, five times the floor OOm describes. The gap is scope, not inflation: the lower figure buys monitoring and small edits, the higher figure buys content and links.
  • Hourly rates, where published, run S$80 to S$150 for junior work and S$250 to S$450 for senior specialists (freelanceseo.sg, April 2026). A S$1,500 retainer at S$150 an hour is 10 hours a month.

The useful question is not the monthly price. It is how many hours and which deliverables the price contains.

What do one-off audits and fixes cost?

A one-off engagement has a defined end, which makes it easier to compare.

Kolonell's itemised breakdown shows where the days go: 1.5 days of technical audit, half a day each on Search Console and Google Business Profile, 1 day each on content, bilingual keywords and competitors, and 1 day of synthesis and walkthrough.

Note the implementation line. An audit is a document. The S$1,000 to S$3,000 of developer time that follows is what changes the site, and on a plugin-based platform it can be more.

What should a monthly fee include?

A retainer worth paying has deliverables you can count at month end. Ask for these in the proposal, in writing:

  • A page list. Which existing pages will be changed and which new pages will be written, by URL.
  • A query list. The 20 to 50 searches the work targets, with current position from Search Console.
  • Technical fixes with dates. Speed, indexing, redirects, structured data, each as a ticket with a completion date.
  • Content output. Number of articles or pages a month, word count, who writes, who approves.
  • Links or mentions. How many, from where, and whether any are paid. Paid links breach Google's spam policies.
  • The report. Clicks, impressions and position by page from Search Console, not a tool's own score. Enquiries attributed to organic search.
  • Access. You hold Search Console, Analytics and the CMS. The agency is added as a user, never the owner.

If a proposal lists hours instead of deliverables, convert: divide the fee by a mid-range S$150 an hour and ask what the hours produce.

What are the signs the fee buys nothing?

  • The report shows a ranking score or domain authority from a third-party tool and no Search Console figures.
  • The same 5 keywords appear every month, and they contain your brand name.
  • No page on the site has changed in 90 days. Check the last-modified dates or ask for the change log.
  • Guaranteed first-page positions. Google's own guidance states no one can guarantee a ranking.
  • Content is published on the agency's domain, or on a subdomain they control, rather than on your site.
  • The contract runs 12 months with no exit, and the site stays on the agency's hosting.
  • Enquiries have not moved. Rankings are a means; the measure is calls, forms and WhatsApp messages from search.

For a diagnostic before you sign anything, see why your website is not ranking.

When is a rebuild cheaper than a retainer?

Most SEO audits of small business sites find the same list: slow pages, thin copy, missing titles, no location page, forms that do not track, a platform that cannot be changed without a plugin. A retainer fixes these one at a time at an hourly rate. A rebuild fixes them in the build.

Option12-month costWhat you own at the end
Freelancer retainer at S$300 a monthS$3,600Edits to a site you may not own
Local retainer at S$1,500 a month (freelanceseo.sg low tier)S$18,000Reports, some new pages, some fixes
Audit at S$3,000 plus implementation at S$2,000S$5,000One round of fixes on the existing platform
cense website from S$2,000, S$0 monthly maintenanceS$2,000Domain, code, hosting and data, with structure, speed and page copy in the build
cense website and infrastructure from S$3,000S$3,000As above, plus hosting, forms into your own database and analytics set up
cense with AI agents from S$5,000, plus from S$800 a month for the marketing agentS$14,600As above, plus an article drafted nightly, images and video per article, AI answers checked weekly

The rebuild wins when the site is under about 20 pages, the platform is the problem, or the retainer has run 6 months without a change in enquiries. The retainer wins when the site is large, the technical base is sound, and the work is ongoing content for competitive terms.

Two cautions. A rebuild must keep URLs and redirects or it loses rankings in the first month. And a rebuild does not write next month's content; that is what the monthly agent or retainer is for. cense's version of the ongoing work is described at SEO and AI search.

How much does SEO cost per month in Singapore?

Published ranges run from S$200 a month for a freelancer to S$25,000 and above for enterprise programmes. Most SMEs are quoted S$400 to S$3,000 a month for a local or single-site retainer.

What does a one-off SEO audit cost in Singapore?

Published audit prices start around S$3,000 and reach S$9,100 for a bespoke itemised audit, or S$35,000 for enterprise audits with log analysis. Implementation of the fixes is quoted separately, from S$1,000.

What should a monthly SEO fee include?

A written list of pages to build or change, the words targeted, technical fixes with dates, content produced, and a monthly report from Search Console showing clicks and impressions by page.

Can a website rebuild replace an SEO retainer?

Often, for a small site. A 12-month retainer at S$1,500 a month is S$18,000. A fixed-price rebuild with proper structure, speed and page copy costs a fraction of that and removes most technical findings in one step.

Why do SEO prices vary so much?

Hourly rates in published guides run from S$80 to S$450 and above, and the hours in a retainer are rarely stated. Two quotes at the same monthly price can contain very different amounts of work.
