AI Features for Business Websites in Singapore
Short answer: the AI features that pay on a Singapore business website are the ones that shorten the path to an enquiry: an answer bot grounded in your own pages, lead qualification that hands over to WhatsApp, a quote estimator for priced services, booking against a real calendar, and an article agent that keeps the site current. Chatbots produce enquiries when they can answer price and scope and hand off to a person. Running costs are tens of dollars a month. The PDPA applies the moment the bot collects a name or number.
Sources are provider pricing pages, Gartner, and the PDPC, checked 17 October 2026.
Which AI features are useful on a business website?
Judge each feature by one question: does it move a visitor closer to an enquiry or a paid job, or cut work for staff. Features that pass:
| Feature | What it does | Fits |
|---|---|---|
| Grounded answer bot | Answers questions from your own pages and documents, links the page, says it does not know otherwise | Services with many pre-sale questions: law, accounting, clinics, education |
| Lead qualification | Asks 3 to 5 questions, scores the lead, hands over to WhatsApp or books a call | Any firm where staff time on unqualified enquiries is the bottleneck |
| Quote estimator | Takes inputs such as floor area, headcount or page count and returns a range from your price rules | Renovation, cleaning, printing, corporate services with fixed tiers |
| Booking agent | Checks a calendar and books a slot with a confirmation | Clinics, salons, consultants |
| Site search | Natural-language search across products or articles | Stores with over 200 products, knowledge-heavy sites |
| Article agent | Drafts original articles nightly for human approval | Firms competing on search and AI answers |
| Translation layer | Keeps Chinese, Malay or Bahasa versions in step with English | Firms serving several languages |
Features that rarely pass: a bot that opens with a greeting and collects an email, AI-generated hero images, personalised home pages for sites under 10,000 monthly visitors, and a voice assistant nobody asked for.
Do website chatbots produce enquiries?
Yes when four conditions hold. Otherwise they add friction.
- It answers the money question. Price ranges, what is included, how long it takes. A bot that deflects on price loses the visitor who was ready.
- It is grounded. Answers come from your pages and documents with a link, not from the model's general knowledge. This removes invented prices and services.
- It hands off. After 2 or 3 exchanges it offers WhatsApp, a call or a booking, and passes the transcript to the person who picks up.
- It writes to your database. Every conversation and contact detail lands in a record you own, with time and page.
The published evidence is mostly vendor surveys and should be read as such. Gartner's press release of 27 July 2022 predicted that chatbots would be the primary customer service channel for roughly a quarter of organisations by 2027, and reported that 54% of 50 surveyed service leaders already used some form of chatbot or conversational AI (Gartner). A 2022 Botco.ai survey of B2B marketers, a vendor study, reported that 83% said chatbots had raised lead volume by at least 5% (Botco.ai). cense has found no independent Singapore study, so measure your own site.
Measure three ratios: enquiries per 100 visitors before and after, the share of bot conversations that reach a handoff, and the share of handoffs that become quotes. If the bot adds conversations but not quotes, it is answering the wrong questions. The handoff channel decision is covered in WhatsApp vs contact form.
Can AI answer quotes and bookings safely?
Yes within rules you write. No as free text.
- Quotes from a price table, not from the model. The model collects inputs, code calculates the range from your rules, and the model explains it. The output is a range with "subject to site visit" or "subject to document review" where that is true.
- Bookings against a real calendar. The agent reads availability from your calendar or booking system and writes a tentative slot that a person confirms, or confirms automatically only for low-risk appointment types.
- Hard limits. No discounts, no contract terms, no legal or medical conclusions, no payment collection in chat.
- Confirmation to the customer by WhatsApp or email, with the quoted range and the time, so both sides hold a record.
- Logs. Every quote and booking stored with its inputs, so a dispute can be traced.
The risk to design out is the model stating a price or a promise that is not in your rules. Grounding and code-side calculation remove most of it. Reading every transcript in the first month removes the rest.
What do AI features cost to run?
Build cost depends on scope. Running cost is small and predictable. Prices from provider pages on 17 October 2026, in US dollars as published.
| Item | Published price | Monthly estimate for a Singapore SME site |
|---|---|---|
| Model calls for an answer bot | Claude Haiku 5.5: US$0.10 per million input tokens and US$0.50 per million output on prompts up to 100,000 tokens. Claude Sonnet 5.5: US$2 and US$10 (Anthropic). OpenAI gpt-6.1-sol: US$2 and US$10 (OpenAI) | 1,000 conversations at about 6,000 tokens each: US$1 to US$15 |
| Hosting and functions | Vercel Hobby US$0, Pro US$20 a month; function invocations from US$0.60 per million on Pro (Vercel) | US$0 to US$25 |
| Database | Managed Postgres free tiers cover thousands of leads; paid tiers from about US$20 (estimate across providers) | US$0 to US$25 |
| WhatsApp handoff | Click-to-chat links are free. The WhatsApp Business API is priced per conversation by Meta | US$0 on links |
| Article agent | Model calls under US$7 a month for 30 articles, worked through in AI article agents | Under US$10 |
The tokens-per-conversation figure is an estimate; a long FAQ in the prompt raises it. Build cost: cense quotes its website with AI agents tier in full before work starts.
What does the PDPA require when AI handles customer data?
The PDPA applies to the bot as it applies to a form. The PDPC's Advisory Guidelines on use of Personal Data in AI Recommendation and Decision Systems, published 1 March 2024, set out how the Consent, Notification and Accountability obligations apply to AI systems (PDPC). The guidelines are not legally binding; they state the position the PDPC takes in enforcement.
Duties for a website bot:
- Notify and get consent. State what the bot collects and why, on or before collection. The guidelines ask organisations to describe the product function that needs the data, the types of data collected and how they are used, in language proportionate to the risk.
- Purpose limitation. A transcript collected to answer a question is not consent for marketing. Do Not Call rules still apply to Singapore numbers.
- Protection. Transcripts and contact details stored encrypted, access limited, provider contracts in place. Read the model provider's data-use terms before customer messages are sent to it.
- Retention. Delete transcripts when the purpose is served. Set a period, such as 12 months after last contact, and enforce it in code.
- Access and correction. A customer can ask what the bot holds about them. Data in your own database makes this a query rather than a vendor ticket.
- Breach notification. A leak of transcripts that is likely to cause significant harm, or that affects 500 or more people, must be notified to the PDPC no later than 3 calendar days after it is assessed as notifiable (PDPC guide).
- A person behind decisions. If the bot's score decides who gets a call back or a price, document the logic and let a person override it.
The checklist for the rest of the site is in PDPA checklist for a business website.
What cense does
cense builds AI agents into the client's own Next.js site, with every conversation and lead stored in the client's own database and handoff to WhatsApp. The website with AI agents tier is quoted in full after one call, with S$0 monthly maintenance. Details on AI sales agent.
Which AI features are worth adding to a business website?+
An answer bot grounded in your own pages, lead qualification with a WhatsApp handoff, a quote estimator driven by your price rules, booking against a real calendar, and an article agent. Each should move a visitor closer to an enquiry or cut staff work.
Do website chatbots generate enquiries?+
They do when they can answer price and scope, cite your own pages, hand off to a person after 2 or 3 exchanges and store every contact in your database. Published figures are mostly vendor surveys, so measure enquiries per 100 visitors before and after.
Can an AI bot give quotes safely?+
Yes if code calculates the range from your price table and the model only collects inputs and explains the result. Keep discounts, contract terms and payment out of the chat and log every quote with its inputs.
What do AI features cost to run each month?+
Model calls for 1,000 conversations are about US$1 to US$15 at published Claude Haiku 5.5 to Sonnet 5.5 prices. Hosting is US$0 to US$25 on Vercel. Most Singapore SME sites run every AI feature for under US$60 a month.
Does the PDPA apply to a website chatbot?+
Yes. The bot collects personal data, so consent, notification, protection, retention and breach notification duties apply. The PDPC's 1 March 2024 advisory guidelines set out how consent and notification apply to AI systems.
