E-commerce Website Cost in Singapore
Short answer: Singapore agencies that publish e-commerce prices start at S$2,799 and S$6,500 for a templated store, and published guides run from S$5,000 to S$50,000 for custom work. The build is only part of the cost. Platform plans, apps, hosting and payment fees continue every month, so compare stores on a 3-year total, not the quote.
Prices are from each company's own pages, checked 17 October 2026. Prices exclude GST unless stated.
How much does an e-commerce website cost in Singapore?
| Source | Published figure |
|---|---|
| SG Web Builder | S$2,799; data entry for 100 products; WooCommerce or Shopify; 2 to 4 weeks |
| Verz Design | E-commerce from S$5,000; 3 to 4 months average build |
| Singapore Best Web Design | From S$6,500; up to 15 pages and 50 products; WooCommerce or Shopify; 12 months hosting |
| Innomedia | E-commerce or custom development beyond S$10,000 |
| Mapletree Media price guide | E-commerce S$5,000 to S$50,000 |
What moves the figure between S$2,799 and S$50,000:
- Product count and data entry. 100 products with photos and variants is a different job from 10.
- Design. A paid theme with your colours, or a layout drawn for your products.
- Payment methods. Cards only, or cards plus PayNow, GrabPay and instalments.
- Shipping and tax rules. Flat rate is quick. Zones, weight bands and GST on shipping are not.
- Integrations. Accounting, inventory, a point-of-sale system or a marketplace feed.
- Copy and photos. Most packages assume you supply both.
cense quotes a website with infrastructure, which is where a store with payments and an order database sits, in full before work starts. See e-commerce website design in Singapore.
What does a store cost to run each year?
The build is paid once. These are paid for as long as the store is open.
| Item | Shopify | WooCommerce | Custom build on Stripe |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platform plan | Basic S$29 a month on yearly billing (S$348 a year); Grow S$99 a month (S$1,188 a year), per Shopify Singapore pricing | Plugin free, per WooCommerce pricing | None |
| Hosting | Included | US$25 to US$350 a month, per WooCommerce | Vercel or Google Cloud; S$0 on cense's standard plan for most stores |
| Theme | Free Dawn, or paid themes US$100 to US$500 one-off on the Shopify theme store | Free or paid | Included in the build |
| Apps and extensions | Priced per app, monthly | Paid extensions US$29 to US$299 a year each, per WooCommerce | Built in |
| Domain | Renewal yearly | Renewal yearly | Renewal yearly |
Three-year software total, estimate, excluding domain and apps:
- Shopify Basic: S$1,044. Shopify Grow: S$3,564.
- WooCommerce on US$25 a month hosting: US$900, plus any extensions.
- Custom build: S$0 in platform fees. Payment fees only.
The gap between a S$2,799 store and a S$5,000 store closes after a few years of plan fees. The gap between a store with no subscription and a store with one widens.
Template store or custom build: what changes in price?
| Factor | Template store (Shopify or WooCommerce theme) | Custom build |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront price | From S$2,799 in published packages | From about S$5,000 in published figures |
| Time to launch | 2 to 4 weeks (SG Web Builder) | 10 to 16 weeks at agencies that publish phases; 14 days to a first draft at cense |
| Design | Theme with your logo and colours | Drawn for your products |
| Monthly fees | Plan, apps, hosting | None or hosting only |
| Checkout control | Set by the platform | Full |
| Data ownership | Exportable, subject to platform terms | In your own database |
A template store is the right call for a first store with a small catalogue and no certainty about volume. A custom build is the right call when the store is the main revenue channel and the monthly fees would exceed the build difference within 2 to 3 years.
How do payment and platform fees add up per order?
Published Singapore rates, per order, before GST on fees:
- Shopify Payments Basic: 3.2% + S$0.50 on domestic cards. Using a third-party provider adds 2% on Basic.
- Stripe: 3.4% + S$0.50 on domestic cards. PayNow through Stripe: 1.3%.
- WooPayments: 3.40% + S$0.50 on domestic cards, plus 1.50% for international cards.
- HitPay PayNow: 0.65% + S$0.30 on orders of S$100 and above; 0.9% with a S$0.20 minimum below S$100. The Shopify app adds 0.5% and the WooCommerce plugin adds 0.2%.
On an S$80 order:
| Method | Fee on S$80 |
|---|---|
| Shopify Payments Basic, domestic card | S$3.06 |
| Stripe or WooPayments, domestic card | S$3.22 |
| PayNow through Stripe | S$1.04 |
| PayNow through HitPay on WooCommerce | S$0.88 including the 0.2% plugin fee |
| PayNow through HitPay on Shopify Basic | S$2.72 including the 0.5% app fee and Shopify's 2% third-party fee |
At 300 orders a month, the difference between S$3.22 and S$1.04 per order is about S$650 a month. Offering PayNow is a cost decision as much as a convenience one. More in payment gateways for Singapore websites.
