Restaurant and F&B Website Design in Singapore
Short answer: a restaurant website has one job: get a diner to a table or an order with the fewest taps. That means address, hours, a text menu with prices, a booking path and a WhatsApp contact, all readable on a phone. Delivery platforms charge per order and booking platforms charge per month, so the site should own the direct channel. The sections below cover each decision and what it costs.
What must a restaurant website show?
Diners arrive from Google Maps, Instagram or a friend's message, usually on a phone, usually within an hour of eating. The home page must answer five questions above the fold.
- Where. Full address, nearest MRT, a map link that opens in Google Maps, and parking in one line.
- When. Opening hours by day, last order time, and public holiday hours. Keep them identical to the Google Business Profile.
- What. The menu as text with prices, not a PDF. State GST and service charge treatment next to the prices.
- How to book or order. One button for reservations, one for delivery or pick-up, one for WhatsApp.
- Proof. Photos of the food and the room, taken in the room. Halal certification, awards and press where they apply.
Below the fold: private dining and events with a capacity figure, a short story of the kitchen, and the second outlet if there is one. Each outlet needs its own page with its own address and hours, because Google treats each location as a separate listing.
What the site should not carry: autoplaying video, a full-screen pop-up before the menu, or a reservation widget that loads slowly on 4G. Statcounter puts mobile at 56.86% of Singapore web traffic in September 2026; test every page on a phone first.
Should bookings go through the website or a platform?
Platforms bring diners and charge for it. Your own site brings diners who already chose you and costs nothing per cover. Most restaurants run both, with the site as the default.
| Channel | Published cost | Who holds the diner's details | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Booking form on your site | S$0 per booking; part of the website build | You | Confirmation on WhatsApp; record in your database |
| Chope (via UOB BizSmart partner page) | S$100 a month Lite, S$150 a month Full Table Management, plus GST (UOB, checked October 2026) | Platform, with CRM access on the plan | Brings diners searching on the platform |
| GrabFood and GrabMart | 30% service fee on every order, including self pick-up, plus GST (Grab merchant page, checked October 2026) | Platform | Delivery and discovery included |
| Google Business Profile booking button | Free to link | Depends on the destination | Google lets you add a reservation link to a supported provider or your own page |
The decision rule: a platform earns its fee when it brings a diner you would not otherwise have had. It does not earn its fee on a regular who searched your name. Point your Google Business Profile booking button, Instagram link and WhatsApp replies at your own booking page, and keep the platform for new diners.
A booking on your own site should ask for five fields: name, mobile, date, time, party size. Send the confirmation on WhatsApp, since that is where Singapore diners reply. Our note on WhatsApp versus contact forms covers response times and record keeping.
How do menus work best on phones?
The menu is the most visited page on a restaurant site and the one most often done badly.
- Text, not PDF. A PDF forces pinch and zoom, loads slowly on mobile data and is poorly indexed. Publish each item as text with its price.
- Sections with a jump list. Starters, mains, desserts, drinks. A sticky section bar at the top saves scrolling on a 60-item menu.
- Prices with tax treatment stated once. "Prices subject to 10% service charge and 9% GST" at the top of the menu, or prices shown nett. Pick one and keep it on every channel.
- Dietary marks. Vegetarian, vegan, contains nuts, spicy, halal. Icons with a legend, not colour alone.
- One photo per section, not per item. Item photos slow the page; section photos sell the kitchen.
- Same-day updates. When a dish changes, the page changes. A menu in code or a database can be edited by staff; a designed PDF cannot.
Then copy the menu to Google. Google's menu editor lets food businesses add sections, items, descriptions and prices to the Business Profile, and changes take 24 to 48 hours to appear on Maps and Search. Keep the two identical.
How do restaurants appear in Google Maps and AI answers?
Most restaurant searches end on Maps, and a growing share end in an AI answer that reads the same sources. Both reward complete, consistent facts.
Google states that local ranking depends on relevance, distance and prominence, that businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to appear, and that more reviews and positive ratings can help local ranking. In practice:
- Fill every Business Profile field: categories, hours, menu, attributes (reservations, takeaway, halal, outdoor seating), photos.
- Ask for reviews after the meal, on a card or WhatsApp follow-up. Reply to each one.
- Link the profile to a website that states the same name, address, phone and hours.
- Add Restaurant structured data to the site: name, address, geo, openingHoursSpecification, servesCuisine, priceRange and the menu URL. Google's property definition for menu is the fully qualified URL of the menu.
- Write the facts an AI answer needs in plain text on the page: cuisine, price per head, signature dishes, whether it takes bookings, nearest MRT, and halal status. AI answers quote pages that state facts in sentences, not pages that show them only in images.
The order is Business Profile first, website second, platforms third. Our SEO and AI search page explains how the three feed each other.
What does an F&B website cost?
A restaurant site is a small build with a few moving parts: menu pages per outlet, a booking form, delivery links and a photo set.
cense quotes a website, or a website with infrastructure, in full before work starts. The quote is given in full before work starts, with the first draft 14 days after one call and up to 20 rounds of edits. There is S$0 monthly maintenance, and the client owns the domain, code, hosting and data.
Compare that against the running costs above: a booking platform at S$100 to S$150 a month is S$1,200 to S$1,800 a year, and a delivery platform takes 30% of each order it brings. The site does not replace those channels, but it is the one channel with no fee per cover.
What an F&B website quote should list:
- One page per outlet with its own hours, address and map
- Menu as editable text, with a jump list and dietary marks
- Booking form with WhatsApp confirmation and a record in your database
- Delivery and pick-up links to the platforms you use
- Photo set sizing for mobile
- Restaurant structured data and Business Profile set-up
- Private dining or events page with a capacity figure
See the F&B website design page for what the build includes.
What cense does
cense designs restaurant and F&B websites in Singapore and Hong Kong, with the booking form built in-house so every reservation lands in the restaurant's own database, and S$0 monthly maintenance. See F&B website design in Singapore.
What should a restaurant website include?+
Address with map link, opening hours by day, a text menu with prices, a booking path, delivery links, photos of the food and room, and a WhatsApp or phone contact. All of it readable on a phone.
Should restaurant bookings go through the website or a platform like Chope?+
Both can work. A platform charges a monthly fee (a bank partner page lists Chope at S$100 to S$150 a month) and brings its own diners. A booking form on your site costs nothing per cover and keeps the diner's details in your database.
Should the menu be a PDF?+
No. A PDF is slow on phones, hard to read without zooming, and not indexed well. Publish the menu as text with prices, in sections, and update it on the page and on your Google Business Profile.
How do restaurants show up in Google Maps?+
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. Complete every field on the Business Profile, keep hours current, collect reviews, and link the profile to a website that states the same facts.
